Job Title: Ontologist / Data Modeler
Location: DC Metro area
Required skills: • Database design using ER and class modeling tools
• Taxonomy development for organizational management, e.g., 
   tasks, activities, system types, facility types, person role 
   types, information types, data characterization. Using tools such 
   as tree tools, Knoodle, Protιgι.
• Ontologies -- models, OWL, RDFS, foundations (e.g., ISO 
   15926, SUMO, Dublin Core)
• Mereology, Set Theory application in formal ontologies and data 
   structures
• Data mapping, mediation, translation, and transformation
• Logics and predicate calculus
Job Description: Ontologies aren't just for ontologists anymore!  Data structured following mathematical principles is more amenable to integration and fusion from heterogenous sources and multiple source analysis.
Task areas: • DoDAF. The DoDAF meta model is based on a formal ontology 
   and will be the method of choice for data exchange across the 
   DoD Enterprise Architecture community and as invoked by 
   acquisition, JCIDS, and other DoD policies. 
• IDEAS. The IDEAS model is also based on a formal ontology and 
   will be an international research forum for EA data exchange 
   issues and evolution for NATO and other US allies and coalition 
   partners. 
• Navy OA. These will carry into command and control and 
   combat system applications for the Navy. In particular, we will 
   research and establish mathematical methods for data model 
   development.
Experience: PhD or 5+ years
Education: • MS-PhD
• Mathematics, Philosophy, Linguistics
• Computer / Information / Cognitive Science
